A great jump in ceramic rotary printing
Digital Roller is an integrated system, saving costs to manufacturers and their glaze and design suppliers. It helps simplify and shorten the new product developement process and increases the duration of rotary printing rolls.
The new Digital Roller rotary decoration system, allows the reproduction of designs on ceramic tiles at a resolution of 50 dots/cm and a clear finish. The reasons are the perfect shape of the cavities or ‘dots’ engraved on its rollers together with an optimal ink unloading.
The shape of a Digital Roller dot is a perfect semi-sphere. Digital Roller dots keep their semi-spherical shape, regardless the percentage of ink used or their size.
As the printing resolution increases, Digital Roller dots diminish their diameter and depth.
The perfect and stable semi-spherical shape of Digital Roller dots and their variable depth, ensure a complete and easy unloading of the ink lodged inside them, even at high printing resolutions. Ink does not accumulate in them after each printing cycle and hence there is not a progressive decrease in the quantity of ink discharged.
As a result tiles of great aesthetic quality are obtained which show clearer line definition and richer colour contrasts.
Laser-engraved dots on silicone behave differently. Their elliptical shape moves away from the ideal spherical form.
This irregular shape progresively degrades to the point of dissapearing as the size or percentage of ink unloading of each dot diminishes.
